What is the New Mexico Gross Receipts Tax?

Most states have what is known as a sales tax. New Mexico does not have a sales tax but they have a Gross Receipts Tax. When you engage in business in New Mexico you may be required to pay Gross Receipts Tax. This tax is paid by the selling business and can be passed on to the consumer. In general sales and/or leases of goods are taxable. On January 1, 2005 gross receipts tax was eliminated from certain food sales and certain health care services. Prescription drugs are no longer taxable either. Thanks for the relief! However the unfortunate reality is that sales and performance of services are taxable in New Mexico. This includes services performed outside New Mexico for a product initially used in New Mexico. Let’s hope someday New Mexico will try to become more competitive with its neighboring states and eliminate the burden of Gross Receipts Tax on services too!

Got one? Two? Three?

If you have competitors, then you should have at least one Unique Selling Proposition (USP). The more REAL ones you have, the better - for your Branding, your business recognition, and your sales!

We all have competitors, and the more you have, the more important it is that you have a Unique Selling Proposition (at least one).

Ethics in Business - Got some?

Ethics - in a profession or trade - is that branch of philosophy which studies the principles of right and wrong in human conduct.

Is your business ethical?

What I mean is "Does your business do the right thing when faced with that decision?" It's a simple question, which many businesses struggle with. I just don't understand the struggle part?

How To Effectively Use Offline Advertising To Build Your Online Business

First of all let me say that having spent the past 20 years working closely with small businesses I know exactly what works when it comes to offline advertising.

What I have found today is that that online businesses have a built in advantage when it comes to promoting their business offline. You already have a website and autoresponder in place to lead your prospect to. When you combine that fact along with the traditional capture methods of telephone and snail mail there is no reason any online business can*t use offline methods to build their businesses and sell their products and services.
